Mr. Widanapathirana is an experienced academic who has held various positions in various organizations in several countries. Having obtained his basic degree at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, he served as a department of Agricultural Biology of the faculty, temporarily and joined the private sector. He has obtained his Masters from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, the University of Peradeniya on Plant Protection Technology and has been a consultant for several pest management programs in various countries. Later he joined the government sector as a researcher and currently reading for his Ph.D in Entomology at the University of Philippines.
